The role – what is it we would like you to do?
Currie & Brown is looking for project planners for our Bristol based infrastructure team, to support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.
Our programme and scheduling services form part of our project and programme management business unit. We aim to forge long-term, successful relationships with all stakeholders in the property and infrastructure industries. Our experienced and professional team delivers specialist services across the entire project lifecycle, including concept and feasibility stages, design and procurement, pre and post-contract support, contract administration, claims analysis, and due diligence.
As a project planner your core duties will involve:
- Providing a planning service to external and internal clients, ensuring all time-related issues within projects are effectively considered and addressed
- Creating and maintaining programme plans in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Providing consultancy advice on all programming and monitoring issues
- Preparing high-level strategic programmes to identify and assess the impact of key sequence, responsibilities and key strategies
- Monitoring and reporting against programmes at all stages of pre-construction and construction, including the use of S-curves, trend analysis, baselines, critical path analysis, rescheduling, etc
- Undertaking analysis of tender and contract programmes from contractors
- Establishing sequence, durations and options for all stages of projects, including design and procurement, legal, financial, gateways, construction and commissioning
- Liaising with project teams, including clients, project managers, cost consultants, design and other consultants, and contractors
- Providing consultancy advice on delay mitigation and undertaking comprehensive delay and forensic analysis activities
- Developing site logistics and phasing management plan
- Preparing resource programmes to demonstrate key inputs and outputs
- Working in any or all sectors of the construction industry including transport/infrastructure, energy, ports/marine, residential, retail, commercial, life sciences, health and education
- Acting as a key contributor in the project management team, assisting in the successful implementation and delivery of large complex projects, sometimes as part of Programme Management Offices (PMO)
Travel to Reading, Reigate and London should be expected on a weekly basis.
What skills and attributes are we looking for from you:
- APM or Prince 2 qualification / membership.
- Educated to degree or equivalent level in a construction, engineering or management related discipline
- Extensive post-qualification experience in project planning and schedule management within the construction industry, with the ability to demonstrate skills at high level, used to working within a variety of project teams, with PMO experience an advantage
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project, with experience to mentor and guide others in their use
- Experience in time periods and constraints in NEC3 and NEC4 contract forms
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of the Infrastructure Sector
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of the commissioning, validation and qualification (CVQ) processes and associated schedule/activity requirements
- Experience within a project controls/programme management environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate confidence in own working abilities
- Confidence in adapting planning skills to new and differing situations
- Excellent IT skills (MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Power BI)
- Experience in schedule assurance and techniques and using Acumen Fuse
- A willingness to travel outside of London
