At Currie & Brown, where our global headcount is c.2800, we're seeking a collaborative People Manager, based in London, to support our UK and European business to help shape our continued success. Reporting to the People Director, you will manage two advisors and help to enhance our operational excellence and the strategic HR impact of the service. Alongside the wider people team, you will also work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and could have the opportunity to travel to any of our UK and European offices.

As a People Manager offering and providing a broad range of generalist HR, case work, employment law and operational HR expertise, you must also demonstrate that you embody Currie & Brown’s values of being professional, collaborative, and honest. Alongside this, you should be capable of handling both extraordinary and the everyday HR, providing comprehensive advice to the business with an evidenced track record of achievement and personal impact in a HR setting.
 
You would be regarded as a trusted partner and will skilfully forge and uphold relationships with stakeholders, while being accessible, supportive and a good ‘friend’ to the business. The People Manager will act as a role model in terms of our values and behaviours, with a strong focus on exemplar service delivery and customer focused solutions.
 
The role sits within a friendly and supportive team, so there will be the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of HR and take lead on exciting and innovative people initiatives. So, whether the focus is on enhancing employee experiences or strengthening our HR strategic capabilities, this is an exciting opportunity for someone to get involved with managing and shaping the service  As a HR practitioner, you will know that no two days are the same, so the post holder can enjoy making the role their own whilst being fully supported.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide specialist advice on employment law and employment practice, in particular guidance on employee relations matters, including both employment law, case law and best practice
  • Manage informal and formal case work as and when required and be skilled in managing complex casework, giving risk-based advice and guidance at all levels
  • Maintain and/or develop policies and undertake project work as required within HR strategy, arising from legislative changes or because of best practice and business needs.
  • Lead HR projects aligned with our people strategy.
  • Working in conjunction with the wider team to deliver transformational and transactional excellence across the UK and Europe
  • Drive HR process improvements and support the People Director in the delivering of HR strategy
  • Ensure legal and regulatory HR compliance across all areas of responsibility
  • Support our European business to support and drive excellent compliance in line with local legislation and business expectations
  • Assess and implement training programs and manage performance appraisals
  • Support the ongoing development and improvements within the team, including, managing, redesigning, creating new and improved processes and procedures and supporting the team to deliver an excellent HR service

Skills, experience and expected behaviours:

  • Proven generalist HR experience with good employment law/ER knowledge
  • Excellent coaching, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Experience in transactional HR and a understanding of HR payroll processing
  • Ability to build and manage relationships at all company levels
  • Knowledge of HR systems and adaptable IT skills, such as excel and report writing
  • People-oriented and results-driven
  • Resilience and ability to cope with unpredictable, intense or sensitive situations 
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to understand commercial priorities and business needs
  • A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time efficiently to achieve objectives
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent accuracy and attention to detail
