The role – what is it we would like you to do?

Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced Electrical Cost Engineer for our client location in Phoenix, AZ. This position would be ideal for someone who is transitioning from a site-based role to an office-based position. A candidate with a strong background in field operations who is now looking to apply their hands-on electrical and cost engineering expertise to project management, cost estimation, and budgeting from a corporate environment. You will work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and engineers to deliver accurate cost estimates and support project planning. These functions should be performed while generating a high standard of service, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.

Your core duties will involve:

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of budgets and tracking project costs throughout the life of projects
  • Supporting change management, estimating impacts of changes and contingency drawdown
  • Reviewing monthly cost reporting and budget reconciliation
  • Handling cashflow forecasting and monitoring
  • Reviewing contractor/consultant invoices
  • Supporting client account management
  • Communicating details effectively to internal and external stakeholders including presentations
  • Establishing new and maintaining existing project controls tools
What skills and attributes are we looking for from you
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, quantity surveying, or other relevant degree or minimum of seven (7) years professional experience in any combination of construction, operations, cost estimation, and project planning.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an electrical focused environment on large complex construction projects
  • Background in oil and gas or semi-conductor is preferred
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Good time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
