Job Overview:
Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced Planning Manager to join our team for a premium high-rise building project. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring project schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate activities and deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development Phase:
- Master Schedule Development:
- Task: Develop and manage the baseline project schedule using Primavera P6 or MS Project, breaking down the design phase into manageable activities (e.g., concept design, approvals).
- Deliverable: A comprehensive Gantt chart showing key dependencies, such as structural approval following architectural completion.
- Example: Align timelines for Request for Information (RFI) resolutions with critical path activities, such as structural modeling.
- Risk Identification and Mitigation:
- Task: Conduct risk workshops to identify project bottlenecks and potential delays.
- Deliverable: A risk register outlining identified risks and proposed mitigation strategies, such as parallel approvals for structural and MEP elements.
- Example: Flag design revisions as high-impact risks and suggest weekly client meetings for expedited approvals.
Pre-Construction Phase:
- Milestone Coordination:
- Task: Coordinate material procurement and ensure timely delivery, aligned with project activity timelines.
- Deliverable: A procurement schedule ensuring just-in-time delivery for critical materials.
- Example: Coordinate the delivery of precast elements to align with crane availability on-site.
Construction Phase:
- Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Task: Monitor and report on project progress, creating weekly dashboards using Power BI for stakeholders.
- Deliverable: A variance analysis comparing actual progress against planned activities.
- Example: Highlight delays in slab casting due to labor shortages and recommend corrective actions, such as overtime shifts, to maintain schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in project planning, ideally in high-rise building projects.
- Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Experience in risk management, milestone coordination, and progress reporting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in project tracking and variance analysis, using tools like Power BI.
