The role
We’re looking for a Senior Project Planner to join our Infrastructure team. You’ll work with project leaders to provide a high-quality planning service - helping teams deliver complex programmes safely, predictably and efficiently. You’ll also contribute to our planning community by sharing knowledge, developing others and strengthening our culture of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead, coach and develop planners to shape the next generation of talent
• Analyse construction programmes end-to-end to identify the safest and most effective delivery approach
• Build trust with stakeholders - including supply chain partners and subcontractors - so plans are understood and followed
• Manage programmes to deliver what we commit to - on time, on budget and to the right standards
• Report on productivity and progress - using site insight and data to keep forecasts accurate
• Assess change impacts and recommend the best path forward
• Contribute to a collaborative planning community - learning from peers and sharing good practice
• Work across teams to define plans, provide clear updates and improve outcomes for safety and quality
Skills and experience
• Significant experience delivering planning services (ideally within construction)
• Strong knowledge of planning methods, techniques and tools
• Ability to interpret tender documents, contracts and specifications
• Understanding of planning, programming and progress monitoring approaches
• A collaborative mindset - you enjoy working with people and building strong teams
• Ability to build relationships and influence teams to deliver what’s needed
• Calm under pressure when priorities shift and plans change
Qualifications and experience
• Degree, postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a construction- or business-related field
• Several years’ experience as a planner on projects typically valued at £20m+
• Strong proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel
• Experience planning infrastructure projects in a live operational environment (desirable)
• Experience with quantity take-offs, statistical analysis and computer operations
• Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and start-up work processes
• Confidence working with mathematical and financial reports
• Understanding of NEC contract forms
