  • Role Overview

    The Safety Manager / Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects of the project are implemented in compliance with local legislation, client requirements, and Currie & Brown’s safety standards. The role involves developing and enforcing site safety plans, conducting inspections, and fostering a culture of safety awareness among all stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) plans, policies, and procedures.

    • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and Currie & Brown’s HSE requirements.

    • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures.

    • Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

    • Provide HSE training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to site personnel and contractors.

    • Monitor and review contractor safety performance, ensuring alignment with project safety requirements.

    • Maintain accurate HSE records, including risk assessments, method statements, and incident logs.

    • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities regarding HSE matters.

    • Promote and maintain a proactive safety culture across the project team.

    • Support the Project Manager in developing risk assessments and safety-related project documentation.

    Requirements

    Education and Certification:

    • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

    • Certified Safety Officer / Manager (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent local certification).

    • Registration with the relevant local authority (e.g., DOSH, CIDB, or equivalent) is an advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5–10 years of HSE experience in construction, engineering, or consultancy environments.

    • Prior experience in high-value or complex projects (commercial, healthcare, infrastructure, or high-tech facilities such as semiconductor or data centre projects) preferred.

    • Strong understanding of local and international HSE standards and codes of practice.

    Skills:

    • Excellent knowledge of construction safety procedures and risk management.

    • Strong communication and leadership skills.

    • Proficient in incident investigation, reporting, and root cause analysis.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
